MONASH UNIVERSITY HOCKEY CLUB PRESEASON 2022 Men’s preseason begins Tuesday 11th January and Women’s preseason begins Saturday 22nd Jan. Please see above for the training schedule. Monash University Hockey Club welcomes players of all backgrounds and experience levels, whether you’re new to the club or returning for another season. If you’re considering playing with Monash in 2022, please come down and join us at any time! Preseason sessions will continue until the winter season commences in April. We look forward to seeing you there! Please note that it is a Monash University requirement that all attendees are fully vaccinated and follow all covid-safe practices. It’s going to be a HUGE weekend at Monash Univer It’s going to be a HUGE weekend at Monash University Hockey Club!! We will be celebrating women’s round this weekend! This is a day of appreciation for women in, around and outside of the club 💖 This year we are raising funds for an incredible melbourne-based local charity, ‘Emerge’. Emerge supports women and children who have experienced family violence. They provide safe refuge, affordable housing and practical programs to empower women to rebuild their lives. The Victoria Police’s recorded crime trends reported that family violence increased by 9.4% last year. We will be raising funds through gold coin donation, a delicious bake sale, and of course, our pink socks!!! So come on down to Monash Hockey Pavillion at the Clayton campus Saturday and Sunday to watch some excellent hockey and celebrate women’s round with us! Bring your friends, family, housemates, everyone is welcome! See you tomorrow!
Lockdown 4.0 felt like a better time than ever to Lockdown 4.0 felt like a better time than ever to bring back humans of Monash hockey!! Meet Tahlia! 👋👋 She is one of our wonderful member protection officers! You can go to your member protection officers with any questions or concerns, or just for a chat! Pronouns: She/her Life ambitions: I want to become a mentor for younger scientists like my supervisors are for me Secret talent: I can wolf whistle really loudly with my fingers, I can also open a beer bottle using a lighter (absolutely useless as I don't and have never smoked) Why they like Monash Hockey: I love Monash Hockey because its one big, diverse family. I'm a scientist who has been essentially adopted by engineers and artists and teachers - people that I otherwise might not interact with in my day to day. I've also never felt more included than I do at Monash Hockey, the people are what makes this club as great as it is. On the field: I am a defender, I grew up as a full back, moved into midfield for my early adult life, and have settled back as a defender now that I am practically ancient 😉 Outside of hockey: I am a scientist, a reader of fantasy books, a cat mum, a beginner violist and a video gamer Fun fact: I'm not sure if this was supposed to be a general fun fact or a fun fact about me, so you get both. Fruit flies drown their sorrows like we do (male fruit flies that are rejected by females drink more than satisfied males) When I was 18 I was planning to become a horse trainer, my boss at the time (a horse trainer himself) told me "Tahlia, you are going to go to univeristy and get a great job where instead of having to wake up at ungodly times to work, you can pay schmucks like me to get up at ungodly times to work for you" - jokes on me, I now have to get up at ungodly times to do experiments! Favourite food: Fav food is a good burger, huge fan of the impossible patty! Hey Tahls! 👋 #humansofmonashhockey
